چکیده
Sauropus androgynus and Solanum torvum are known to possess antioxidant, anti-cancerous, anti-fungal antiseptic properties. The current study aimed evaluate the effect of ethanol extracts leaves fruit in prevention biofilm formation by methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus. also assessed presence bioactive compounds their ability modify cell surface hydrophobicity aureus biofilm. In this study, isolates obtained from tertiary care hospitals Coimbatore were subjected antibiotic susceptibility testing formation. Among 20 isolates, all found be 100 % sensitive vancomycin cotrimoxazole tetracycline. Two observed strong producers confirmed microtiter plate method only one isolate was used for further studies. Phytochemical screening plant materials carried out identify potentially responsible biological tested, showed a maximum zone inhibition (18 mm), whereas exhibited 16 mm at 200 µg/ml against Minimum inhibitory concentration minimum aureus, which each extract 5 mg/ml inhibit growth via method. Moreover, there an increase 33.96 61.90 150 leaves, while 46.80 hydrophobicity. Similarly, anti-adhesive activity higher (0.008) when compared (0.016) 50 µg/ml. reports first time efficacy as promising source anti-biofilm agents, especially

Comparison of Biofilm Formation between Methicillin-Resistant and Methicillin-Susceptible Isolates of Staphylococcus aureus
Background: The aim of this study was to compare the biofilm formation and the prevalence of biofilm-associated genes between the isolates of methicillin-resistant (MRSA) and methicillin-susceptible (MSSA) Staphylococcus aureus. Methods: In total, 209 S. aureus isolates were collected. The antibiotic susceptibility test was conducted using nine antibiotics according to the guidelines of Clinica...
متن کاملAscorbic acid augments colony spreading by reducing biofilm formation of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Objective(s):Staphylococcus aureus is a Gram-positive pathogen, well known for its resistance andversatile lifestyle. Under unfavourable conditions, it adapts biofilm mode of growth. For staphylococcal biofilm formation, production of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) is a pre-requisite, which is regulated by ica operon-encoded enzymes. This study was designed to know the impact of ascor...
متن کاملDetection of icaABCD Genes and Biofilm Formation in Clinical Isolates of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Background & Objectives: Methicillin resistance Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the most important pathogens that causes several nosocomial and community infections. Adhesion to surfaces and biofilm formation is considered main step in staphylococcal infection. The aims of this study were to determine presence oficaABCD genes and relation to the biofilm formation in of...
متن کاملStatus of Biofilm-Forming Genes among Jordanian Nasal Carriers of Methicillin-Sensitive and Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Introduction: Biofilm formation in Staphylococcus aureus is a major virulence factor. Both methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are common causes of community- and hospital-acquired infections and are associated with biofilm formation. The status of biofilm-forming genes has not been explored in Jordanian nasal carriers of S. ...
متن کاملBiofilm Formation and Detection of IcaAB Genes in Clinical Isolates of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Objective(s) Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is an important cause of nosocomial and community infections. Biofilm formation, mediated by a polysaccharide intercellular adhesin (PIA) and encoded by the ica operon, is considered to be an important virulence factor in both S. epidermidis and S. aureus. However, the clinical impact of the ica locus and PIA production is less w...
